as our new Development Director!
LaKenya brings over 20 years of powerhouse leadership in community organizing, labor advocacy, and strategic development. With degrees in Human Resource and Business Management from Webster University, she’s led transformative campaigns across Missouri and Louisiana—from organizing the first Dollar General store in the U.S. to driving statewide voter engagement efforts.
Her work with the Industrial Areas Foundation and UFCW Local 655 reflects her deep commitment to building institutional power and mobilizing communities for lasting change. A recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Rights Award, LaKenya also serves with the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, and the Plessy & Ferguson Initiative.
Her expertise in fundraising, coalition-building, and grassroots strategy makes her an invaluable force in advancing IMPACT504’s mission to uplift and empower our communities.

Scholarship dollars are available for parents under 25 who were or are pregnant before or at the age of 19 and are enrolling in a New Orleans area college. Applications open on November 1! As we prepare for the upcoming BOODat504 Halloween Community Extravaganza and the WinterFest504 Gert Town Community Christmas Parade Giveaway, your contributions will have a significant impact. For every dollar donated, our efforts through IMPACT504 Krewe de Charite can result in an actual impact of $10 to $100, helping initiatives like HEALTHY504 and IMPACT504 DAY to make a real difference in the community!
Youth from across the city participated in the BOODat504 Halloween Community Extravaganza, engaging in arts & crafts activities, STEM projects, and interacting with NOPD and NOFD personnel and equipment. They had the chance to shine in our costume contest, experienced the Fright Night Haunted House, and danced the night away with DJ Arie Spins! This exciting event also supported the HEALTHY504 initiative by advocating for and raising funds and donations for a mother who had recently survived a domestic violence incident. Additionally, it set the stage for future events like the IMPACT504 DAY and the IMPACT504 Krewe de Charite, along with the upcoming WinterFest504 Gert Town Community Christmas Parade Giveaway.
Families from across the city descended upon Gert Town for the Second Annual WinterFest504 Gert Town Community Christmas Parade Giveaway. Before processing through the neighborhood and handing out gifts and throws to neighbors along the route, youth were engaged with arts and crafts and slime projects. Following the parade, attendees were treated to a Holiday Feast. This event is part of a broader series of activities, including the BOODat504 Halloween Community Extravaganza and HEALTHY504 initiatives, as well as the upcoming IMPACT504 DAY and IMPACT504 Krewe de Charite. IMPACT504, founded by Percy J. Marchand, a life-long resident of New Orleans, serves as a vital community resource. Established in December 2023, IMPACT504 has quickly become known for producing annual community events, including the popular BOODat504 Halloween Community Extravaganza, which started in 2021, and the WinterFest504 Gert Town Community Christmas Parade and Giveaway, initiated in 2022. In January 2024, we launched the IMPACT504 Krewe de Charite, aimed at providing essential resources to underserved residents of New Orleans, while also creating opportunities for all to engage and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by this marginalized population. Additionally, our commitment to health initiatives is reflected in our HEALTHY504 program, which promotes wellness within the community. As we continue our efforts, we look forward to celebrating IMPACT504 DAY, uniting the community in support of these meaningful initiatives.
We were founded with the purpose of creating, collaborating, and executing effective programs and activities, such as the BOODat504 Halloween Community Extravaganza and the IMPACT504 DAY, that provide direct positive impacts on youth, adults, and seniors. We believe in a holistic approach to solving the ills that challenge residents and communities, and events like the HEALTHY504 initiative and the IMPACT504 Krewe de Charite exemplify our commitment. Additionally, our WinterFest504 Gert Town Community Christmas Parade Giveaway aims to bring joy and support to families during the holiday season.
